Hannah JiHyun Kim (b. South Korea) is a metalsmith and a jeweler currently residing in Illinois. She has always been interested in crafts since she was young. Fortunate to have parents who were supportive of her interests, she was given many opportunities to explore her creativity and refine her skills by pursuing a degree in crafts. She recently received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Craft-Metals at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Her motivation stems from her fascination in the delicacy and intricacy of flowers and stone settings. She explores how flowers’ beautiful colors and form can be transferred in metal using enamel as a medium. The challenges associated with this craft keep her problem-solving skills sharp. Her work has been exhibited at SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths) in 2017.
